American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Athens is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I'm a huge fan of Ecuadorian chocolate, so this was a gem of a place to find! The barista was very good at her job. It is so easy to find a person that can make a latte, but rare to find someone that really knows how to use an espresso machine to its fullest capability. I do believe the chocolate bars to be a bit overpriced, but I was happy to buy three flavors to try anyway.

We had a lovely visit to Condor Chocolates. We have been meaning to swing by and finally made it in! Our family picked out three separate things to share: Dark Chocolate Coconut Truffle, Salted Caramel Brownie, and Marshmallow Caramel Cloud. Iβm a bit βsnootyβ about dark chocolate and brownies and it was the best of both that I have ever had! This location only had drip coffee, which we also ordered and it was also delicious! Shout out to Riley for making our trip even more enjoyable! Give that girl a raise! Ha! π€

Condor Chocolates - Downtown (Athens) GO DAWGS!!! I drove through downtown and spotted this location, on E. Washington Street. Iβve been to their main location at Five Points, Athens, GA. But I didnβt know they had a downtown location. (Keep an eye out and Iβll do review of Five Points location) I popped in to check it out and was craving their uniquely delicious chocolates. When I walked in, I noticed that they didnβt have much chocolate display. After chatting with the staff briefly, they mentioned that this location is like a Distribution Center and or for larger business orders. Despite cravings of their products and not getting them here, it was fun learning that they have multiple locations and are growing.

This place was great! I was in town for the film festival and stopped here for a quick bite. I had the gelato sandwich and loved it! Very tasty and flavorful. The wash it down I had the milkshake mocha. All very good! Price was around $13, so in all I was very satisfied. Iβd love to go back and try chocolates, but unfortunately it would all melt by the time I had the chance to try it.

What a sweet little spot in the heart of downtown Athens! The coffee is incredible and their chocolate is tantalizing to say the least! They roast their own coffee and chocolate in house and make all their own syrups. The mocha was absolutely delicious and quite possibly the best coffee drink Iβve had. Will definitely be back to try the chocolates and their regular house drip to see how the coffee is, in and of itself. But this is definitely worth a try! Itβs also really cool to be able to watch the roasting process as you sip and study or catch up with friends!
